NRC received an award at Oktane18!

Our customer, Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), received the 'Okta for Good Award' at Oktane18. This is an award that is awarded to non-profit organizations that have integrated Okta's solution to accelerate their mission and deliver lasting impact.

Norway’s largest humanitarian organization

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organization that helps refugees and internally displaced people. The foundation promotes and defends their rights and dignity, and operates in more than 31 different countries. There are 6,000 employees, a few of them at the head office in Oslo, but most work around the world in the field.

Conference Oktane

Okta, which is one of our partners, is one of the leading suppliers of cloud-based products in identity and access management. Once a year, they invite everyone working with Okta to their conference Oktane, and this year it was held in Las Vegas. Arne Vedø-Hansen, a senior IAM consultant at Cloudworks, was at the conference and shared some of his experiences from it in a travel letter.

Okta for Good Award

In addition to everything that Arne experienced at Oktane18, it was particularly gratifying for us that ICT Manager in the Norwegian Refugee Council, Mads Grandt, received the “Okta for Good Award” award on behalf of the foundation.

NRC saw the need for an agile and flexible IT solution and Mads Grandt and his team had a vision to move away from complex VPN solutions while still increasing security. Cloudworks was brought in as a partner, and an outdated VPN platform was replaced with Okta’s cloud-based and user-friendly IDM service. It acts as a cloud integration solution for the organization’s 6,000 users. You can read more about it here.

Many of our employees work in crisis regions and rely on mobile and secure solutions. Okta’s IDM service, provided by Cloudworks, simplifies the everyday lives of our 6,000 employees and is the foundation of our cloud commitment.

Workplace from Meta integrated with Okta

Okta’s IDM service is the foundation of the Norwegian Refugee Council’s cloud strategy, and since launching it, several services have been integrated into the solution. Among other things, the NRC saw the value of establishing a collaboration and communication platform. Cloudworks’ cloud architects were therefore engaged to integrate Workplace from Meta with Okta, and to assist with onboarding of NRC staff.

Today, NRC staff and experts can connect and collaborate in a secure Workplace environment, making NRC’s Workplace installation one of the world’s largest and most diverse humanitarian knowledge databases.
